Flea control in NWA and Mountain Home

Preferred pest control professional in Fayetteville & Northwest Arkansas

Just the thought of fleas might make you feel a little itchy. They’re impossibly tiny insects that can live in pets’ fur, but can also lurk within your bedding and other furniture. Yes, this means you might be dealing with a flea infestation even if you don’t have any pets!

If you’ve been noticing small, itchy bites on your skin, or if your pet has been scratching a lot more than usual, you might have a flea problem. It’s worth noting that fleas aren’t attracted to all people, so if you’re not itchy but your pet is, that could still be an indication of a serious infestation.

Because they’re so small, fleas are pretty difficult to handle on your own. That’s why a flea infestation is a problem best left to the pros. If you suspect that you might be dealing with an infestation, it’s time to give Hopper a call.

Flea control FAQ

How can I spot a flea infestation?

When it comes to fleas, it might be difficult to tell just what kind of infestation you’re dealing with. That’s because fleas are tiny insects that are often unnoticeable to the untrained eye. A unique characteristic of fleas, however, is their inability to fly. They don’t have wings, but they’re able to jump far and fast. If you spot fleas jumping, that’s a dead giveaway.

A flea infestation also might be the case if you’re experiencing red, itchy bites– for instance, if you’re sitting on your couch near your pet and suddenly notice an intensely itchy bite somewhere on your body, it’s likely that a flea just jumped off of your pet or out of your couch and onto your skin.

How did I get a flea infestation?

There’s a misconception that fleas can only affect homes with pets, or with outdoor pets. For example, if you have a cat that lives strictly indoors, you might think that it’s impossible for her to have fleas.

Unfortunately, fleas can be transferred in many different ways. You might have even brought them in from the outdoors yourself! Once they get inside, there’s plenty of places for them to hide while waiting for their next meal.

Is a flea infestation dangerous?

While fleas are mostly just an inconvenience, an infestation is not a problem that you should ignore.

Fleas aren’t attracted to every human, so they might not be biting you– but they can easily bite your guests, or even transfer to their clothing to spread infestation to their homes!

Fleas can also be very annoying for your pets. If you notice your pet scratching or grooming a lot more than usual, it’s obvious that they’re uncomfortable– which is something you definitely don’t want.

Additionally, since they feed on blood, fleas can transmit diseases, which makes them a health hazard. So yes, a flea infestation can be dangerous!
