Outside Keep yard and landscaping trimmed and free of accumulated leaves and debris. Move wood piles away from house and bring in only what you need for that day. Get rid of old tires, etc. Remove dead trees. Eliminate moisture conditions Inside Repair water leaks. Outside Repair water leaks Maintain gutters and downspouts. Make sure downspouts drain away from house. Insure that water does not accumulate next to foundation. (grade, guttering and French drains can be used to divert water from foundation) Make sure crawlspace is well ventilated and does not have standing water. Eliminate food sources Inside Keep kitchens free of food debris and grease Remove garbage, often. Keep pet food in sealed containers. Store food in sealed containers or in refrigerator/freezer. Sweep and vacuum often. Outside Keep garbage in a container with a good lid. Other Keep pets "flea free". Keep shrubbery and trees trimmed so branches and leaves do not touch house.
