Pest Prevention and Summer Lawn Care

by Hopper Environmental on August 14, 2012

Part of our summer activities no doubt includes maintaining our lawns.  One of the sounds of summer is of the lawn mower busily buzzing around the yard.  The smell of freshly cut grass is something many people enjoy and associate with summer.  There are several reasons to consider the summer lawn care system you have this year.

First, regular maintenance is important to the overall health of your lawn.  Summer is the height of its growing season, so letting the grass go long demands more nutrients from the soil.  But mowing too closely to the ground can increase the soil’s direct exposure to the sun, and you could end up with hard, cracked ground.  Regular watering and mowing at one of the higher settings can ensure your grass has enough shade and nutrients to grow lush this summer.

A well maintained and manicured lawn can also increase the property value by as much as 15% for residential property and 6% for commercial property!  This also helps you maintain better relationships with your neighbors. Everyone enjoys living in or walking through a beautiful neighborhood.

Regular summer lawn care is also an excellent time to get a handle on possible pests.  A trained pest control and lawn care expert can help you assess the needs of your lawn to determine if any insecticides or herbicides need to be applied.  Common outdoor pests such as ticks and fleas can be controlled in this way.  Pest control methods on the lawn can help establish a barrier for these insects.  Best to treat them outside so they do not end up making themselves at home inside!

Hopper Environmental Services offers EPA approved treatments for a variety of pest control and lawn maintenance needs.  Our Total Yard Care programs can assess your particular lawn care needs and create a weed and pest free environment for the enjoyment of your family or customers.  We specialize in weed control for regular lawns and turf.

Our Total Yard Care programs can provide you regular lawn care maintenance and ongoing reports as to the state of health of your lawn and the additions and changes made to it. We are the only Pest Management company in Arkansas to be recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program, for its commitment to reducing the amount of pesticide risk in the environment. Only a handful of companies nationwide have received this coveted recognition.
